Terminals at Sofia Airport
There are two terminal buildings. Terminal 1 that was renovated in 2000 and has been standing since 1937. It is a very efficient terminal and one that caters for arrivals and departures. Terminal 2 is the most recent addition and is capable of handling 2.6 million passengers per year.
Getting to Sofia Airport
To get to Sofia from the north or south of the city you need to take the E79/A6 road in your Car Hire Sofia Airport car.
From the east, take the Trace Highway E80/A1-A3 or from the lesser used E80 Highway through Pirdop and Pazardzhik.
From the west, use the A1/E80 that links up to Kalotina on the Bulgarian-Serbian border.
Should you be driving from the Republic of Macedonia, the roads are very well maintained and it is possible to traverse the country on the major Highways.
The roads from Greece, such as the E79/A6 are especially well maintained, which means from Thessaloniki for 300kms it is a nice drive.

There are two car parking lots at Sofia Airport. One outside of Terminal 1 and the other outside Terminal 2. Both are uncovered and reasonably priced. There is the option of short and long duration stays in both car parks. They are open 24 hours and managed y the airport.
Facilities at Sofia Airport
At Sofia Airport, there are refreshments available from Coffee Bar No.1 and Coffee Bar No.2. Both Terminal 1 and 2 have a coffee bar called Cool Wings that serves hot and cold beverages as well as alcohol, snacks and desserts.
For shopping, there is a duty free shop selling confectioneries, alcohol such as spirits and tobacco. Toys and maps are also available.
The airport offers WIFI internet for free in the Hot Spot Zone. There is a Lost & Found area for baggage that has been mis-placed and they will trace your baggage after 5 days of its time missing.
