Introduction to Albufeira Airport Albufeira Airport is usually called Faro airport as it is the main airport in the area of the Algarve in Portugal. Albufeira is around 40 minutes drive from the airport but with excellent transport links it makes it easier. In 2008, 5.6 million passengers used the airport and it is known as Portugal's 2nd busiest airport. It has become one of the most used airports for the low cost carriers such as EasyJet and RyanAir. There is one runway which measures 2,490 meters long and can handle Boeing 747s. Out of the Iberian peninsula it is the 6th most important.
