There is one terminal building at the airport which is used to house the offices of the flying schools and for classrooms of the pupils. The area is known for being an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and therefore large aircraft are not wanted due to the environmental affects.

Getting to Swansea Airport


Swansea Airport is located on the Gower Peninsula in the south west of Wales. It is fed by the M4 motorway which comes from London and the M25. The airport sits on the A4118. The same road carries on to the west towards Three Cliffs, Penmaen and Nicholston. 

If you are heading to the airport from the south at Mumbles you need to be on the B4436 and head up towards Copley and Bishopston before heading east on the A4118.

There are around 50 parking spaces for free located at the airport in Swansea. They are generally reserved for the flying school instructors and the pupils. There are however open to the general public if they are wanting to watch the aircraft take off and land from behind the fence.

There are no facilities at the airport which you would expect from a larger airport as it is shut down. There is the occasional private flight. There is a helicopter landing site which is used for the Air Ambulance and police helicopters. 

There is a small snack bar which sells microwave meals and small cakes. There are two vending machines, one selling confectionery and the other selling soft drinks. 

There are male and female bathrooms which are accessible for wheelchair users. There is a car park located near to the entrance which is for flying school instructors and its pupils.
